Frank Wesson Model 1870 Medium Frame Pocket Rifle - Second Type. Made c. 1870-1893. Total made roughly estimated at 5,000. This .32 rimfire caliber single shot pistol features a 20" full octagon barrel, spur trigger, square butt and rosewood grips. The Second Type models were made with an iron frame, external push button type half cock and standard Wesson extractor which slides in a dovetail along the right side of the barrel. The rifle frame retains roughly 50% of the original nickel finish. The barrel has developed a brown patina with light pitting in areas. The rear sight has been modified from it's original adjustable configuration to a fixed sight with a silver bladed front sight dovetailed into the tip of the barrel. While all serial numbers match (barrel, frame, grips) the pistol is missing it's matching detachable stock. Serial # 766
